San Francisco Bay Area artist Erin McCluskey Wheeler is known for her bright colored works that employ a meticulous assemblage of found and painted papers. With both an abstract and graphic style, Wheeler's works are sometimes symbolic or whimsical, and play with ideas of nostalgia and visual memories in a narrative context. Erin sources found materials and creates her own painted paper collage material to create densely layered paintings full of light and space. Wheeler has a BA in studio art, and a BA in art history (magna cum laude) from Beloit College, and an MFA from California College of the Arts.
Erin is represented by Jen Tough Gallery and Roaring Artist Gallery and her paintings are licensed and sold through West Elm, Minted, and Samsung. She was the artist in residence for the El Cerrito Recycling Center in 2018-2019.
