This workshop course is about the exploration and understanding of color and edges using: watercolor, acrylic, and oil. The focus will be how to approach blending and edges through color choice and painting techniques that will offer students a new way to observe life and photo references. All skill levels welcome - although some previous experience in any of these mediums will be helpful. Students will have time to watch demos, and work on their own paintings (as well as, bringing any personal work they need help with).
Supplies:
- Pencils (and kind you’re comfortable with)
- 4 Painting surfaces – canvas, board, paper, ect… (11’X14” is a good size)
- Oil Paint/acrylic/watercolor – any or all you would like to use in the workshop
Good colors to use:
Cobalt blue
Ultramarine blue
Viridian
Pthalo green
Raw sienna/yellow ochre
Burnt Sienna/transparent oxide red
Cadmium red
Cadmium yellow
Alizarin Crimson
Titanium white
Payne’s gray
Davy’s grey
Bonus colors: purple madder, dioxazine purple, cerulean blue, oxide of chromium
- Turpentine/odorless mineral spirits – with a container that would can carry home with you
- Brushes – whatever brand you’re comfortable with. Bring some larger brushed that you haven’t worked with yet
- rags/paper towels
