Character Design Fundamentals - using some of the fundamentals of animation, learn how to bring your ideas to reality by creating dynamic and engaging characters.
Session 1: Who is your character? - brainstorming and writing exercises to flesh out your character’s personality and goals; can start sketching ideas
Session 2: Faces - exploring shapes and squash & stretch to build expressions; start exploring what your character looks like
Session 3: Posing - practicing solid drawing and silhouette to make readable poses; practice drawing characters standing and moving in space
Session 4: Bodies - exploring shapes and line of action to build expression through body language; begin practicing how your character looks and stands & push their line of action
Session 5: Appeal - Combine all the fundamentals covered to create your unique character/s; make 3-4 iterations of what you want your character(s) to look like
Session 6: Model sheets/Expression sheets - practicing consistent drawing of your character(s); choose 1 iteration to develop into a model sheet and expression sheet
Session 7: Storytelling poses - Set a scene! Practice drawing full body expressions and acting through different written scenarios; create 4-6 storytelling poses
Session 8: Final illustration(s) - Create a colored/inked portrait and colored/inked storytelling pose for your character
Materials: all you need is a pencil, printing paper/sketch book or if you prefer drawing digitally, i.e. iPad etc., you are welcome to!

Registration & Payment Policy
If 3 weeks before class start date, a full refund is offered minus a non-refundable $25 deposit.
If 2 weeks before class start date, a 50% refund is offered, minus a non-refundable $25 deposit.
If 1 week before class start date, a 25% refund is offered, minus a non-refundable $25 deposit.
If less than 7 days before class Start date, no refund is offered.
