This class is not for absolute beginners, some experiences required. Learn from the master! During this course we will study figure drawing with charcoal pencils, go in-depth on head studies, torso/arm/leg anatomy and perspective/foreshortening. Different techniques mentioned in Henry's book, Henry Yan's Figure Drawing, Techniques and Tips, will also be introduced and practiced in class.
Other than techniques, students will also be encouraged to find their own way of seeking beauty from each pose when practice, and interpret what they found with a personal artistic approach.
Lots of demos and individual help will show students how to create beautiful line works, methods of placing different tones to render three dimensionally; design realistic works with supporting abstract elements; and the way to do drawings with painterly approach.
Supply List:
Charcoal pencil: 2B, 4B or 6B, Soft vine charcoal or willow (optional)
Kneaded eraser; Xacto knife; Newsprint pad, 18"x24";
Drawing paper: medium or smooth surface 18"x24"(optional);
