**ALL OUR SUMMER CAMPS ARE NOW BEING TAUGHT ONLINE**
Upon hearing the word “superhero” an image may come to mind of a muscular man in a skin-tight suit. That is certainly one version of a superhero!
From grocery store employees, to your weird neighbor’s cat, to genetically-enhanced beings from space, this summer camp will explore different ideas of what superheroes (and supervillains) can be. Students will be encouraged to draw inspiration from their own individual interests and passions to create ‘pitches’ for several ideas and then choose one to develop into a finished comic.
We will cover all the basics of creating a comic page, as well as character design, environments, and story. Exercises will focus on imagining and designing everything your superhero will need to succeed-- sidekicks, animal helpers, a slick mode of transportation, and of course, super powers. Classes will be broken up by drawing exercises that are intended to both build basic drawing skills and keep us energized.
For the last half hour of class, Alex will perform a dramatic reading of a graphic novel from our reading list, which helps demonstrate techniques we are learning in class. Students will have the option to continue to work and ask questions during this time.
